岩崎 宏俊　IWASAKI Hirotoshi

1981年、茨城県生まれ。2019年、東京藝術大学大学院美術研究科先端芸術表現領域博士後期課程を修了。博士（美術）。ロトスコープという実写映像をベースにアニメーションを制作する方法に着目し、シュルレアリスムなどの20世紀の前衛芸術運動と比較し体系化した独自のロトスコープ論を確立。ロトスコープによる混淆する運動やその非完結性の探求を続けている。アニメーションという表現を柔軟に捉えており、美術や映画の領域を越境して作品発表を行うほか、コミッションワークも手掛けている。2015年オランダアニメーション映画祭でグランプリ受賞。2022年より新千歳空港国際アニメーション映画祭のプログラミングチームの一員としてコンペティション短編部門の選考を行う。コミッションワークとしてカルバン・クライン、『ニューヨーク・タイムズ』紙の「Opinion」、ドキュメンタリーフィルムなど多数のコラボレーションを行い、サンダンス、The One Show、ニューヨークADCなどでも賞を受賞している。

Born in 1981 in Ibaraki Prefecture. In 2019, completed the Doctoral Program in the Intermedia Art, Graduate School of Fine Art, Tokyo University of the Arts. Holds a Ph.D. in Fine Arts. Focusing on the production of animation based on live-action footage through rotoscoping, he has established a unique theory of rotoscoping, systematizing it in comparison to 20th-century avant-garde art movements such as Surrealism. Continues to explore the ambiguity of motion and its inherent incompleteness through the use of rotoscope. Embracing animation as a flexible form of expression, he transcends the boundaries of fine arts and film, presenting works and engaging in commission work. Awarded the Grand Prix at the 2015 Holland Animation Film Festival. Since 2022, serves as a member of the programming team for the New Chitose Airport International Animation Festival, participating in the selection of the competition’s short film section. Has collaborated on numerous commissioned works, including projects with Calvin Klein, “Opinion” in The New York Times, and documentary films, among others. Awarded at Sundance, The One Show, New York ADC, and others.
